Lydia Kraniotis

Actress | Voiceover

Lydia loves comedy, writing and working with her voice.

Her artistic background includes theatre and on-camera acting, working on independent films, Improv, storytelling, and all forms of comedy. In 2023, she received a fellowship grant from the DC Commission for the Arts and Humanities for her work as a multidisciplinary artist.

Lydia has lived in several US cities, as well as abroad in Mexico, England and Greece. She has also done a lot of job-jobs. **

COMEDY: Lydia discovered comedy as an infant, when she realized that spitting up on herself got laughs. Since then, she’s (sort of) cleaned up her act, but still lives for the laughter. Standup was always the dream-goal (this a real term?), but it took a while to get to it. Lydia had to do a lot of other stuff in preparation, like partying and dead-end jobs (See Job-Jobs**). She’s also done some of that stuff since. Having taken (quite) a few detours away from standup over the years, she has returned stronger than ever. Now that she has conquered her paralyzing fear of social media, she is poised to make this comedy thing happen, hopefully before the end of civilization. Based in Washington, DC, Lydia has performed standup around the US and abroad.

VOICE ACTING: The tiny lady with a MONSTER VOICE!!

Lydia began voicing in 2019. She had a rapid learning curve soon after starting, as most voice work became remote due to the pandemic. Lydia got some equipment, cleared out her closet, and fashioned a studio. Since then, she’s done dozens of roles and learned a ton in the process.

Lydia attributes her good ear to having been raised in multicultural Washington, DC, where she grew up hearing languages and accents from everywhere. She speaks Greek, Spanish, Portuguese and French, and is working on Arabic.

Her strengths in the booth are improvisation, adaptability and playfulness. She enjoys testing the limits of her range, both vocally and in terms of character. She also loves taking direction (but only in the booth!). Lydia has trained with Elley-Ray Hennessy and Brendan Hunter, and continues to explore and enrich her knowledge of the craft.

WRITING: Ahhh, the final frontier. Lydia is, as of yet, unpublished. That said, she is exploring memoir and essay writing, and is in the process of rebooting her blog, https://runningonashes.com/
